Who is Shape Your Support for?
Shape Your Support specialises in male-tailored disability support provided by skilled, energetic, and compassionate male support workers. We offer support to those of all ages in a 1:1 capacity and provide a number of programs targeted at different age groups. Shape Your Support mostly services the Greater Geelong Region, but can provide support to the Surf Coast and Golden Plains depending on availability. Our sister company, Queen Bee Disability Support, offers female-tailored support.
What types of support do you provide?
At Shape Your Support our primary focus is providing support and mentorship to participants whose NDIS goals include Community Access, Social Participation, and Independence in Daily Living, however, supports can also be tailored to suit many other needs such as Employment, Health/Wellbeing and more. These supports can be delivered via regular 1:1 support, group programs or both!
Who can access our support services?
Plan-managed or self-managed NDIS participants are able to access our services provided they have been allocated appropriate funding. Supports can be privately funded. If you are unsure whether your NDIS plan allows for our services, please feel free to get in touch with our team to discuss your options.
What does it cost?
Our support services are invoiced according to the latest NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. If any of our services require an activity cost please note that these must be paid out of pocket due to NDIS restrictions. For the most up to date version of NDIS Pricing please click here.
Is there a minimum or maximum support time?
We have a minimum shift length of two hours in place. If a support requires less time two hours will still be charged to the participant’s plan. In accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS Award) our support workers can work up to 10 hours in a single shift.
What qualifications do your support workers have?
Many of our support workers hold formal qualifications in disability and related fields or are currently studying towards them. While qualifications are valued they are not a requirement. At Shape Your Support our team members are carefully selected for their values, life experiences and genuine commitment to this industry. All of our support workers receive comprehensive onboarding, on-going guidance and are matched thoughtfully to each of our participants based on support needs and experience.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
We have a 48-hour cancellation policy, meaning shifts (1:1 supports or group programs) cancelled by the client within this timeframe will be considered a late cancellation and still be charged in full to the participant’s plan. Please note that for School Holiday Program the timeframe for a late cancellation is 72-hours.
Do you offer Respite or Short-Term Accommodation support?
Shape Your Support offers respite and STA options for our current clients. To learn more please get in touch.
Do you offer transport for group programs?
Yes we do. Transport is available upon request for all of our group programs. It is a requirement of all of our workers to hold a current Victorian Drivers License and Comprehensive Car Insurance. Kilometres are invoiced at a $1 = KM.
Do you offer support over school holidays, Christmas/New Years period and public holidays?
Regular 1:1 supports are not guaranteed to continue during school holiday periods unless requested to the Shape Your Support team and confirmed. This is because many of our support workers are allocated to our school holiday program which runs from 10am-3pm Monday to Saturday each week of the school holidays. We ask that if our families require 1:1 support during regular program hours that is a minimum 5 hour support, or if less hours, is scheduled for outside of program hours (before 9:30am of after 3:30pm).
The Shape Your Support Office typically observes a two-week ‘shutdown’ over the Christmas and New Years period. During this time we strongly encourage our support workers to take a break from their regular supports to spend time with their families and to recharge to prevent burn-out. Regular supports are therefore not automatically guaranteed over this time and must be specifically requested and confirmed.
Support can still be delivered on public holidays if required however it is charged at the Public Holiday rate outlined in the latest NDIS Pricing Arrangments and Price Limits.
